Yes, the Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 1 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office arrested three people on the morning of the 13th, including Lee Han-seong, co-representative of Hwacheon Dae-yu, and Choi Mo, director of Hwacheon Dae -yu.

He is accused of helping Hwacheon Daeyu’s main shareholder Kim Man-bae hide his criminal proceeds.

Prosecutors are also seizing and searching about 10 places, including Kim’s residence in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, the three people’s residence and Hwacheon Daeyu’s office.

The law firm Pacific was also included in the search and seizure target, and the prosecution is said to suspect that Kim Man-bae’s lawyer also helped Mr. Kim hide his property.

Earlier, the prosecution had frozen some of Kim’s real estate and deposit repayment obligations and traced the hidden assets.

A prosecution official explained that while monitoring the flow of criminal proceeds related to the Daejang-dong project, they identified specific allegations and launched a mandatory investigation.

However, he added that it is difficult to disclose the specific amount of the hidden funds as the investigation is ongoing.

The arrested Lee Han-seong is a person who served as an aide to former Deputy Governor Lee Hwa-young of Gyeonggi-do, who is the closest associate of Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung, when he was a member of the National Assembly.

In September last year, he served as co-representative of Hwacheon Daeyu, and is said to have managed Kim’s wallet and handled the withdrawal of funds.

Choi, director of Hwacheon Daeyu and former vice president of Ssangbangul Group, is also known to have had several financial transactions with Kim Man-bae.

In February last year, it was investigated that Kim lent Choi 2 billion won out of the 47.3 billion won borrowed from Hwacheon Daeyu.

Choi, who has known Kim for a long time, wore a helmet and heaved his bags when he left the detention center after Kim’s first arrest warrant was lifted in October last year.

Given that Mr. Choi was a former key executive of Ssangbangwool Group who is suspected of paying the legal fees, it is interesting to know whether the link between the two cases will be revealed.
