Grandmother Lee Yong-soo asked her students to ignore Professor Ramsey’s comments when he argued that comfort women were prostitutes in an online seminar at Harvard University.

Let’s connect reporters. Reporter Jung Hyun-woo!
Let’s start with the remarks that Grandma Lee Yong-soo made at the Harvard Online Seminar today.

Lee Yong-soo attended an online seminar held by the Harvard Asia Pacific Law School Student Association (APALSA) today (17th).
It was held under the theme of’refutation of Japanese claims denying comfort women’.
Grandma Lee Yong-soo asked the students to ignore Professor Ramsey, who wrote a thesis claiming that comfort women were prostitutes.
Regarding Professor Ramsey’s claim that it had recruited comfort women under contractual relations, Japan was also circumstantial criticism that Japan forcibly took a girl from Joseon.
At the same time, the grandmother also said that Professor Ramsey’s vain claim was helpful.
Thanks to this controversy, it aroused interest in the comfort women issue to students and other citizens.
Also, as she revealed at a press conference held yesterday (16th) at the Seoul Press Center, she repeatedly emphasized the need to file a complaint with the International Court of Justice (ICJ), saying it was her last wish.
On the 8th of last month, even though the Japanese government issued a domestic ruling to pay 100 million won to comfort women victims, he said it did not accept responsibility.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family explained that it would actively listen to her opinions on this grandmother’s arguments and promote systematic research and commemorative projects on comfort women victims.

You said that many overseas activists also attended the online seminar?
Please explain what happened.

Today’s seminar was attended by former Congressman Mike Honda, who led the passage of the “Japanese Military Comfort Women Resolution” in the US House of Representatives in 2007.
Julie Tang and Lilian Singh, two former judges who resigned to participate in raising the comfort women’s memorial service after working in the California court for about 30 years, also served as speakers.
Together, they argued that the comfort women issue was not an issue between Korea and Japan, but that everyone should be interested.
The victims of the comfort women of the Japanese military are not only in Korea, but also in the Netherlands, Indonesia, the Philippines, China, and other countries, and they are war crimes that undermine universal human rights and women’s rights through sexual exploitation.
Prof. Ramsay’s arguments were also refuted.
They argued that there were enough documents and photographs to prove that Japan forcibly took and transported women in the past, but Professor Ramsey ignored it.
Participants complained that the lobby of the Japanese government was serious, mentioning that Professor Ramsey is receiving financial support from Mitsubishi.
They also claimed to have felt the influence of the Japanese government and non-governmental organizations mobilizing millions of dollars in their comfort women activities.
So far, the Ministry of Social Affairs has delivered it.
