The prosecution, investigating the suspicion of illegal departure from the former Vice Minister of Justice Kim Hak-e, conducted a seizure and search of the Ministry of Justice for two consecutive days.
The controversy is aggravating as additional disclosures of Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office, Lee Seong-yoon, who was then head of the anti-corruption force at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, interfered with the prosecution’s investigation into the allegations.

The Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office conducted a seizure and search for the second day in connection with the suspicion of Kim Hak’s illegal departure from the country.
On the first day, the Ministry of Justice and the Incheon International Airport Immigration and Foreigners Administration resumed the work of securing computer data.
Previously, Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, including the Ministry of Justice and Incheon Airport, confiscated and searched the office of Prosecutor Gyu-won Lee, who had written a request for banning Kim Hak’s departure, and his home at the same time.
It is known that the data obtained by the prosecution also included key evidence, such as the cell phone of the person concerned.
In line with the prosecution’s compulsory investigation, the public interest reporter who first reported the suspicion raised an additional’suspicion of interfering with the investigation’.
The 14-page additional public interest report obtained by YTN contains the process of investigating the suspicion of former Vice Minister Kim’s illegal departure in 2019 by the Suwon District Prosecutor’s Office in Anyang.
The public interest reporter revealed that the investigation was halted due to the involvement of the Prosecutors’ Office of the Ministry of Justice and the Anti-Corruption and Power Department of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, even though the process of improper banning of departure was confirmed.
It is that it prevented investigations other than the contents of the Ministry of Justice’s request to investigate the allegations of evacuating overseas by leaking information on the ban on departure from the former Vice Minister Kim.
At the time, the report also claimed that the procedure for the ban on departure was in an urgent situation in response to the request of the anti-corruption and the Ministry of Power of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, and that there was no problem as it was reported to the competent district prosecutor.
The public interest reporter said, however, that only one Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office, Lee Seong-yoon, who was in charge of the Anti-Corruption and Power Department at the time, was not aware of the detailed reporting situation at the time.
When several departments of the Ministry of Justice were simultaneously seized and searched, Minister Choo Mi-ae strongly criticized the prosecution.
The prosecution pointed out that the prosecution had missed the statute of limitations by dismissing former Vice Minister Kim twice as an investigation that turned away conclusive evidence such as’Kim Hak’s video’ to cover my family, but rather impeached the victim.
In addition, they questioned whose public interest it is for the Ministry of Justice to seize and search the Ministry of Justice for a real crime suspect who has been stranded for an emergency departure from the airport.
As soon as the prosecution is finished analyzing the confiscated material, the prosecution is planning to summon and investigate those involved in the ban on departure from former Vice Minister Kim.
Through two public interest reports, even the Ministry of Justice and senior prosecutors have been identified as targets for investigation, and it is noteworthy how far the prosecution’s investigation will extend.
