As the social distancing step 2.5 was extended for another two weeks, entertainment facility owners who were not included in the group ban exclusions lit signboards and started’lit-up demonstrations’.

The business owners are complaining of pain, saying that it is difficult to withstand any longer as various taxes are added to the overdue monthly rent.

Reporter Dae-gyeom Kim went to the scene of the lit-up demonstration.

The entertainment facilities are also lit up between general karaoke rooms and cafés where detailed instructions have been eased to receive guests.

Entertainment facilities cannot be opened after the 2.5-step extension of the distance, as the ban on gatherings has not been lifted.

I went to an entertainment facility where I started protesting.

As you can see, the signboard is lit.

As the ban on gatherings has not been lifted, all lights are turned off like this, and customers are not receiving them.

It has been 8 months since it was classified as a high-risk facility at each corona crisis and was restricted from business.

Suddenly, the debt exceeded 30 million won, and the monthly rent and electricity bills were 3 months behind.

[김모단 / 유흥주점 사장 : 아파트 대출금도 밀려있고요. 또 건강보험 모든 세금 같은 게 고정적으로 다 나오고 있어요. 그 세금들을 내지 못하고 계속 쌓아오고 있는 거거든요.]

They claim that the only thing that has come back is reverse discrimination, collecting taxes over an average of 10 million won for being an entertainment facility.

[권순기 / 유흥주점 사장 : 지금 상황에서 차별화가 되고 있잖아요. 노래방이랑 저희랑은. 근데 저희는 그런 걸 불법적으로 하는 게 싫으니깐 세금 내고 정당하게 하겠다 해서….]

Owners of entertainment facilities in Gwangju have been holding’lit-up demonstrations’ since the 5th, insisting on lifting the ban on gatherings.

[한 모 씨 / 광주지역 유흥주점 사장 : 저희는 최대한 빨리 영업을 하루라도 앞당기는 거 그게 저희 희망 사항이고…. 일부라도 어떤 식으로든 보상해주기를 원하고 있는 상태예요.]
