The spread of foot infections at the eastern detention center in Seoul is seldom fading.
Six detainees who didn’t get results in the 5th total test were tested positive again.
To date, the number of confirmed cases has already exceeded a thousand, and it is close to half of all prisoners before the outbreak.
While the number of confirmed cases is increasing rapidly with each full test, another test is conducted on all prisoners of the Eastern Detention Center.
It is already the 6th full test, targeting about 600 prisoners and employees who have been negatively determined by the 5th test.
As all three-digit confirmed cases were confirmed in the 1st to 5th rounds, it is feared that not a few prisoners and employees will be tested positive this time.
Prime Minister Jeong Sye-gyun, head of the company headquarters, officially apologized for the disgrace of being the most confirmed single facility, and Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae also posted two apologies on social media.
The Ministry of Justice belatedly introduced the third stage of distancing from correctional facilities across the country, but confirmed cases are continuing in other correctional facilities such as Jeju prison.
Experts stressed that the root cause of how the infection spread in the eastern detention center has not been found, and stressed that the cause analysis and epidemiological investigation should be conducted more closely.

The meeting of lawyers for a democratic society and the Catholic Human Rights Commission of Korea launched public inquiries saying that they would check whether the government measures were appropriate.
In addition to the guarantee of sanitary products and medical services in the facility, the government asked the prisoners to disclose specific information on nine matters, including the guarantee of the right to communicate with the outside world, the prohibition of unfair disciplinary action, and measures in the event of a prolonged situation.
These groups criticized the Ministry of Justice for not taking any clear action from the beginning of the crisis except for external blocking, and that follow-up measures were not transparently disclosed.
It is an evaluation that the collective infection in the eastern detention center in Seoul revealed the unfamiliarity of our society as a country with poor human rights in correctional facilities.
In particular, as the deaths have been followed, the aftermath of the storm over the subject of responsibility is expected to be inconvenient along with the provision of supplementary measures after the situation has subsided.
