Family members returning home from the UK where the COVID-19 mutant virus has spread have been confirmed one after another.

The quarantine authorities have launched a’mutant virus test’, and the exact results are expected in two weeks.

A, a man in his 80s, returned from England on the 13th.

This man, who suffered from heart disease, had a cardiac arrest during self-isolation and was transferred to the emergency room of Ilsan Hospital in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, but died after 40 minutes.

Corona 19 test results were positive and confirmed post-mortem.

A family members were also confirmed to be infected one after another.

One family member who entered the country earlier on the 8th is undergoing an epidemiological investigation on traffic paths and contacts after self-isolation is over.

The quarantine authorities have also launched a’mutant virus test’.

A full-length gene test that compares and analyzes all the sequences of the virus is performed.

Results are expected in the first week of next month.

The mutant virus, which is known to have a strong spread of 70%, is rapidly spreading to the UK, Europe, Canada, Japan, and South Africa.

The Korean government has also strengthened quarantine measures, including temporarily suspending flights departing from the UK on the 23rd.

If the result of this test turns out to be a mutant virus, it is confirmed to be the first case in Korea, so the quarantine authorities are keenly keen on.
