Tighten the reins of quarantine ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays… “Possibility of the fourth epidemic”

This time, let’s look at the situation in the metropolitan area. Hand reporter!

The metropolitan area still retained its business restrictions at 9 p.m. How is the atmosphere there?

[기자]

The coin karaoke room I am out of is lunchtime on weekdays, so only 2 out of 15 rooms have customers.

This coin karaoke room occupies more than half of the users after 9 p.m.

However, as the 2.5 steps for distance distances in the metropolitan area have been extended for another week, this place will also be closed after 9pm.

Then, I will meet the owner of Coin Karaoke in person and talk to him. Hello boss.

Good morning.

[기자]

This time, the 9 p.m. business restriction was extended for another week. How do you rate this action?

[인터뷰]

According to statistics from the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of confirmed coronaviruses occurred mostly in religions, nursing homes, and meetings with friends. Nevertheless, we self-employed people have been subject to periodic bans and restrictions on gatherings. In particular, there have been 0 confirmed cases since June of last year. Nevertheless, will the maintenance of the 9 o’clock business limit eventually abandon our self-employed people and small and medium-sized business people. I can’t hide my anger and disappointment at this thought that the government is neglecting us.

[기자]

How much will the sales blow from this extension of quarantine rules?

[인터뷰]

As of 9 o’clock, even in the case of our coin singing practice range, more than 50% of the sales correspond to that. In particular, pubs, billiards, and bowling alleys are all hitting the same seriously.

[기자]

If the government’s quarantine regulations continue to be maintained in the future, is there any plan for the owner to respond?

[인터뷰]

Yesterday, we already started protests for opening PCs and cafes. We are planning to open a demonstration today at a coin singing practice range and tomorrow at a pub. In the future, our self-employed organizations plan to carry out collective actions such as a general uprising for the retroactive effect of compensation for losses and re-establishment of quarantine rules with the participation solidarity and small business association.

[기자]

Thank you

The government has decided to extend the 9 p.m. business restriction for another week ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday next week.

Vaccination will start soon, but there are many risk factors such as mutant virus and school opening in March, and the possibility of a 4th epidemic is also mentioned, so we cannot relax.

In addition, as the number of new patients in the metropolitan area for the third week is in the mid-to-200 range, this action is planned to be maintained until midnight next Sunday.

It seems that self-employed people’s backlash against such extended measures will not be easy. How is it?

[기자]

That’s right.

The self-employed, who expected the easing of the quarantine regulations, are in a position that they can no longer withstand their disappointment.

Self-employed people in the restricted business began protesting their opening from today.

Starting with the press conference at the PC room in Hwagok-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul this morning, tomorrow morning, the coin karaoke room and the day after tomorrow are scheduled to be held at a pub.

They don’t accept customers, but they turn on the store lights and leave the door open.

Self-employed people are demanding the abolition of the uniform business hours limit, asking how the 9pm business limit has the effect of quarantine.

It is to adjust the regulations so that doors can be opened and closed freely according to the characteristics of each industry.

Here, the store closed several times during the year to prevent quarantine, but they objected that there was not enough compensation for this.

Even after this week, if the government’s guidelines do not change, there is a possibility of conflict with the authorities as it has announced that it will review the enforcement of sales after 9pm.
