About 4,000 fewer people than the day before.
A clear decline continued, with a decrease of 14,000 from last Sunday and 24,000 from two weeks ago.
On Sunday, it was the lowest in 12 weeks since October 23 last year.
The number of deaths in one day was also 37, down from yesterday, and the number of severely ill patients was 499, which fell to the 400 level for the first time in 29 days since the 17th of last month.
With the epidemic situation improving, the quarantine authorities are discussing plans to adjust the indoor mask duty this week.
The day after tomorrow (17th), starting with the discussion of the National Infectious Disease Crisis Response Advisory Committee, it is expected that we will be able to conclude the timing and method of adjustment before the holiday at the earliest.
As the trend of decline continues and there is room for intensive care units, the criteria for adjusting the mask duty have already been met, but the situation abroad, such as China, is a variable.
Among the new confirmed cases today, 104 cases were imported from abroad, of which 64 arrived from China, accounting for 61.5%.
However, it is analyzed that the positive rate of short-term foreign residents from China, who undergo PCR testing immediately after entering the country, was 8.7%, and recorded below 10% for two consecutive days, showing the effect of strengthening quarantine measures.
The government plans to maintain quarantine measures for travelers from China, Hong Kong and Macau even during the Lunar New Year holiday.
