An additional patient who was waiting for a bed assignment in a nursing facility in Bucheon, Gyeonggi-do died, and as of today’s 0 o’clock, the number of deaths increased to 14.

The quarantine authorities said that 81 people died from Corona 19 in the past week.

It is said that nearly half of them were infected in institutions including nursing homes.

Are news of group infections coming out from medical facilities such as nursing homes?

Yes, the nursing hospital on the 8th floor of the building behind me is currently being isolated from the same group.

Three women in their 80s who were quarantined here yesterday died, and the number of related deaths increased to 14 as of today’s 0:00.

Among them, except for one who was transferred to Seongnam Medical Center, Gyeonggi-do, all died while waiting for a dedicated bed assignment.

City hall officials said that the quarantined users are being moved to different hospitals one by one, but the allocation is not easy due to the lack of beds.

As such, the elderly and the number of underlying diseases continue to cause group infections in nursing homes or medical institutions, which are considered as vulnerable facilities, in the metropolitan area.

First of all, an additional 12 workers and residents were confirmed at the nursing hospital in Bucheon, increasing the infection scale to 146.

In addition, 10 additional people who were jointly quarantined in a nursing home in Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do were confirmed, and the cumulative number of confirmed patients increased to 28.

In a nursing home in Seo-gu, Incheon, where the first confirmed case was made yesterday, the number of related confirmed cases increased by 23 more during the day yesterday.

Yes, in the last week, 81 people died of Corona 19.

The quarantine authorities estimate that nearly half of them are infected in nursing homes and hospitals.

There are 30 people in nursing hospitals, 8 people in nursing homes, 2 people in other medical institutions, and 40 people in total.

It seems that the spread of infection has had terrible consequences as it is a space where many people with underlying diseases and elderly people live together.

Likewise, the quarantine authorities are planning to strengthen quarantine in some hospitals as infection spreads in medical facilities such as clinics in Dongducheon city, Gyeonggi-do and hospitals in Seocho-gu.

The government considers nursing hospitals, mental hospitals, nursing homes for the elderly, and welfare facilities for the elderly as susceptible to infection, and plans to mandate corona19 preemptive tests for workers at those facilities.

The inspection cycle is shortened from 2 weeks to 1 week in the current metropolitan area and from 4 weeks to 2 weeks in the non-metropolitan area.
