The issue of military service benefits for pop culture artists has risen rapidly with the performance of BTS’ billboard.

At the end of last year, the amendment to the Military Service Act passed the plenary session of the National Assembly, and legislation was announced on the 23rd.

As expected, the range of excellence in the field of popular culture and arts was defined as “a person who received a cultural medal or cultural medal.”

It is predicted that BTS, who received the cultural medal for contributions to the spread of the Korean Wave in 2018, will be able to postpone military service.

However, it is not easy for other pop culture artists to benefit from the same.

The bill requires you to get a medal before age 30, which is not easy in the light of precedent.

BTS was the youngest among singers to receive a cultural medal so far.

Psy, who finished second in the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States, was also awarded at age 34.
