VP, a BC Card subsidiary of KT Group, announced that the number of spam reports from WhoWho application users decreased from 7.71 million in the second quarter to 5.68 million in the third quarter.
VP introduced a dangerous text detection function to the WhoWho app that analyzes the sender’s phone number and Internet address in a complex manner to indicate whether the message is dangerous. Additionally, a service that informs users of the latest spam trends and high-risk numbers in real time has been opened within ‘My KT’.
KT is applying a method of blocking text messages sent from high-risk numbers from the communication network to prevent them from reaching customers.

When a user makes a phone call, an AI model analyzes the content of the call and detects and informs in real time whether voice phishing is suspected. In particular, call content is analyzed in real time using on-device AI technology.
The service is currently in beta testing and is expected to be available for free on the WhoWho application within the year.
In addition, KT plans to enhance the service by learning the voices of actual voice phishing criminals based on the ‘real-time call voice phishing detection service’ that has received approval for the ICT regulatory sandbox demonstration special case.
Kim Jin-guk, CEO of VP, said, “Based on AI technology, we will continue to collaborate with KT and strive to block voice phishing and spam, which are becoming increasingly more intelligent.”
◆Microsoft requests research from IDC on ‘AI business opportunities’
To effectively support the AI transformation of all organizations, Microsoft commissioned IDC to conduct a study on ‘The Business Opportunity of AI’.
According to IDC, when organizations invest heavily in AI, they have the potential to significantly improve their return on investment.
Microsoft is using CoPilot tools to transform the work of its customers. In communications, Lumen Technologies saves sales reps an average of 4 hours per week and $50 million per year with CoPilot. In the medical field, doctors at Taiwan’s Chimei Medical Center reduced the time required to write medical records from one hour to 15 minutes, and nurses were able to record patient information in less than five minutes.
IDC’s research showed a turning point where AI is spreading in earnest across industries.
