The facility quarantine, which was once implemented for 3 weeks, ends… There is no PCR test immediately upon entering the country.
(Beijing = Yonhap News) Correspondent Cho Joon-hyung = China’s forced quarantine of immigrants as a quarantine measure against Corona 19 was lifted on the 8th.
According to the guidelines announced by the Chinese government on the 26th of last month, domestic and foreign citizens entering China can immediately head to their destinations such as their homes without quarantine if there is no abnormality in the health declaration and general quarantine procedures conducted at the airport after arrival.
From this day, foreigners who have received a visit or residence permit, such as a visa issued by the Chinese government, can visit China if they have a negative Corona 19 PCR test result conducted 48 hours before departure.
It is no longer necessary to obtain a health code, which had to be requested at the Chinese embassy or consulate at the place of departure, and the PCR test that entrants had to undergo at the airport has been abolished.
Since March 2020, the Chinese government has implemented the mandatory quarantine of arrivals facilities in order to block the influx of COVID-19 from overseas.
With China limiting the issuance of short-term tourist visas to foreigners and slashing flights to and from China since the COVID-19 pandemic, the quarantine of up to three weeks discourages people from traveling to China without essential work or life-related reasons. it played the role of the ‘Great Wall of Quarantine’ which makes it impossible to pay.
However, as China has relaxed its quarantine measures, the period has been shortened to “5-day facility quarantine + 3-day self-isolation” (Beijing standard) since November last year, and this time it has been completely abolished.
The Chinese government will also gradually proceed with the acceptance, review and authorization of its citizens’ general passport applications for overseas tourism and visiting friends.
People-to-people exchanges between China and the outside world are expected to gradually revitalize as China eases the “bars” on its borders that it has maintained for nearly three years.
Starting with the Boao Forum, which is expected to be held in March this year with a large number of high-ranking officials, including heads of state, the conditions have been created for various international events hosted by China to be held offline.
However, the number of people traveling to and from China is unlikely to increase rapidly in the short term.
Currently, some countries, including Korea, the United States and Japan, are taking measures to strengthen the quarantine for new arrivals from China, such as corona tests after arrival, considering the spread of Corona 19 in China and the possibility of an influx of new mutations from China Why.
It is expected that it will take some time for people-to-people exchanges to seriously normalize between Korea and China.
The South Korean government recently restricted the issuance of short-term visas from China to South Korea and increased additional flights, making it mandatory for travelers arriving from China to undergo a COVID-19 test before and after entry .
