[국제]YouTuber who said’Kimchi is Korean food’ but was canceled, but Kimchi…

A young YouTuber from Korea, who was active in the Chinese online market, was caught up in a controversy over kimchi and was terminated.

The Chinese government is still vague, saying it should not hurt the feelings of the people of both countries.

YouTuber Hamsey has secured 5.3 million subscribers through so-called eating rooms.

They also entered China online and earned more than 20 million won per month.

However, I recently apologized for appearing on a live internet broadcast in China.

The reason is that he clicked’Like’ to comments containing demeaning expressions for the Chinese.

[유튜버 ‘햄지’ : 비속어로 단어가 들어갔는데 제가 ‘좋아요’를 눌렀어요. 우선 사과드립니다. 죄송합니다.]

The comment that started off was on the eating video video posted by Hamji on Chinese social media.

It is said that Chinese people say that ssam is also their food, but the profanity contains one letter.

As this comment spread along with the fact that Korean YouTubers liked it, Chinese netizens rebelled.

There was even a request to tell which country kimchi is food.

Although Hamji was frivolous, he posted a post that he thinks ssam and kimchi are Korean.

Chinese partners said they had blasphemed the Chinese and terminated all contracts with Hamji.

We even made an apology broadcast and deleted all videos from platforms in China.

Hamji said that he could not say that kimchi is Chinese food, and that he would rather stop activities in China.

The Chinese government again gave an ambiguous interpretation.

[화춘잉 / 중국 외교부 대변인: 중국에는 파오차이가 있습니다. 한반도와 중국 조선족은 이것을 김치라고 부릅니다. 보통 서로 같거나 비슷한 부분이 있습니다.]

Kimchi is not recognized as a Korean food.

While the Chinese government has stated that Korea-China cooperation is more important than the kimchi controversy, it has maintained an ambiguous attitude to research academically.
