[국제]Taiwan’s 111th Anniversary of Double Eleventh Anniversary … US-China Trig Functions Surrounding Semiconductors

Each October, Mainland China and Taiwan celebrate two National Day celebrations.

While there are opposing voices claiming independence from Taiwan and unification from China, cross-strait relations are more complicated than ever due to the US-China conflict over semiconductors.

This is a report from Beijing correspondent Kang Jeong-gyu.

Taiwan celebrates Sun’s “Xinhai Revolution” as the founding day of October 10, 1911.

On the occasion of the 111th anniversary of the Double Tenth Day, lawmakers from the United States, Canada and Japan visited numerous lawmakers.

President Tsai Ing-wen stressed Taiwan’s independence in his memorial address.

On October 1, 1949, when Mao Zedong declared a new nation-state, commemoration of the founding day of the People’s Republic of China, the opposite voice is loud.

On the 16th, when Xi Jinping took office for his third term, he set “Taiwan unification” as a homework of 100 years of history.

So far, China’s high dependence on Taiwanese semiconductor imports has prevented the war.

This is because the United States is in full swing against China’s “semiconductor move” such as the export ban on key equipment following the “Chip 4 Alliance”.

After the war, China is expected to take over from Taiwan’s leading semiconductor company TSMC, and scenarios are circulating about the destruction of manufacturing facilities to prevent technology leaks or key personnel escaping.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk, an American electric vehicle manufacturer, even said Taiwan should be managed as a special administrative region like Hong Kong.

Taiwan was outraged, claiming that Musk, who invested a large sum in China, was violating the country’s sovereignty, but China responded.

Meanwhile, when the US military resumed its acquisition of the F-35 stealth fighter, which had been discontinued due to the use of rare earth magnets made in China, Chinese state media called for stricter controls on exports of Rare lands.

It sounds like a warning that rare earths can be used as a resource weapon in the face of US semiconductor repression.
