Japan again recorded the highest number of corona19 infections nationwide, with more than 800 new confirmed cases for the first time in Tokyo.

The Japanese government has been halting various support measures, including travel, but it will take some time to take effect, and the spread is expected to continue for the time being.

Tokyo correspondent Lee Gyeong-ah reports.

Tokyo recorded 822 new confirmed cases a day.

It recorded the highest number of new infections since the corona crisis on the second day following the previous day.

In one day, more than 140 people increased.

Of the confirmed infections, nearly half of those in their 2’s and 30’s are in their 2’s and 30’s, and about 110 people aged 65 or older who are prone to deterioration.

Amid the rapidly increasing number of infected people every day, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has raised warnings about the healthcare system to the highest of all four levels.

Prime Minister Suga said on the 25th of last month, when the third epidemic was terribly spreading, that he would catch the spread of the infection through’three weeks of intensive measures’.

However, the results were just the opposite.

On the 14th, the Japanese government, with a fire on its instep, announced the suspension of travel assistance.

Starting with this, we decided to stop all consumption promotion support projects for dining out, events, and shopping streets.

We are inducing people to refrain from going out, such as shortening train operations during the year-end and New Year holidays.

[니시무라 야스토시 / 코로나19 담당 장관 : 감염자 증가 추세에 변함이 없는 상황입니다. 어떻게든 본격적인 겨울을 맞기 전에 감염 확산을 억제하고자 대책을 강화했습니다.]

However, experts say it takes at least 2-3 weeks for these measures to take effect.

As the number of severely ill patients in Japan continues to be the highest every day, concerns are growing about how much hospitals in different regions can withstand.
