The Revolutionary Guards announced that’Korean Chemie’ is being held at the Port of Bandar Abbas.
He said, “This arrest is at the request of the Prosecutors’ Office of Hormuz State and the Port Authority,” he said. “The judicial authorities will deal with this case.”
It was found that 20 people, including 5 Korean sailors, were on board the seizure ship.
Foreign media such as the AP and Reuters also cited the Iranian media and reported the arrest of Korean chemists at once.
The Strait of Hormuju, the entrance to the Gulf waters where ships were captured, is a strategic point, with about a third of the world’s maritime crude oil transport.
The Iranian arrest took place amid particularly high military tensions between the United States and Iran.
Iran, the leader of the Islamic Shiite, threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz whenever military tensions increased with the United States, and had captured ships several times.
