Kyodo News reported today (4th) that the Japanese government is coordinating a plan this week to declare the Corona 19 emergency in the metropolitan area for about a month.
Japanese Prime Minister Suga said at a New Year’s press conference today (4th) that he will review the declaration of an emergency in four metropolitan local governments, including Tokyo, where the number of corona19 confirmed cases is rapidly increasing.
The Japanese government initially considered a plan to declare an emergency in the metropolitan area from the 9th, but as Prime Minister Suga ordered the review to be hurried, the Kyodo News Agency said it was adjusting to advance the time of the declaration.
In areas where an emergency is declared, the head of the relevant metropolitan government may request refraining from going out, shortening restaurant business hours, closing schools, and restricting events.
Even if an emergency is declared at a press conference this afternoon, Yastoshi Nishimura, the chief minister of countermeasures against Corona 19, said, “I do not think about closing schools in Japan at this time.”
The Minister in charge of Nishimura also explained that the university entrance exams scheduled for mid- and late this month will also be conducted even if an emergency is declared.
When the Corona 19 emergency is declared, it will be the second time after April last year.
