[국제]China “Watches US destroyer pass through the Taiwan Strait… to protect the territory”

For the first time since the inauguration of the Biden administration, China rebelled against the passage of a US destroyer through the Taiwan Strait, saying it would defend the country’s sovereignty and territory in response to all threats and provocations.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Won-bin said at a briefing that China closely watched US warships passing through the Taiwan Strait and understood the whole process.

China maintains a position that Taiwan is part of China by advocating the so-called “one Chinese principle”, and insists that the Taiwan Strait, the sea between the mainland and Taiwan islands, is a territorial sea.

Spokesman Wang Won-bin urged the United States to play a constructive role for peace and stability in the region.
