Chinese media reported that some cities have started vaccination, with China being known to have set a policy to complete 50 million people vaccinated against Corona 19 by New Year’s Eve next year.
The Global Times newspaper, an official news agency, said that the city of Shenzhen in southern Guangdong Province has been releasing vaccines free of charge to high-risk groups and overseas departures since yesterday (28th).
The Global Times explained that the vaccination was started at five medical institutions in Shenzhen, and the priority targets were medical institutions and quarantine facility officials, public transportation workers, frozen food industry workers, and overseas employees and international students.
He added that prior to the city of Shenzhen, cities in Chongqing, Zhejiang, Shandong, Sichuan and Henan also began to receive voluntary vaccination applications for important workers and groups.
In particular, in Hefei City, Anhui Province, more than 1,000 people have been vaccinated over the past two days, and in Luyang, 60 frozen food workers have already been vaccinated.
The Global Times newspaper said that China’s National Hygiene and Health Commission said that more vaccines will be approved for use in the future and that the vaccine will be distributed to the general public in addition to high-risk groups.
The newspaper says, however, that although the safety and efficacy of the vaccine has been proven, some residents are still anxious about getting the vaccine.
Earlier, Chinese media reported that Chinese health authorities plan to finish vaccinating 50 million people before Lunar New Year on February 12 next year.
