BTS-backed Korean label HYBE LABELS’ new girl group survival program “R U Next?” (ABEMA, every Friday at 8:50 pm) aired its third episode on the 14th.
The program, produced by the joint venture label “BELIFT LAB” by HYBE and CJ ENM, aims to determine the final members of the next generation global girl group. Aspiring young talents undergo systematic training and prove their potential and star quality while overcoming survival challenges.
In the third episode, the first contestant to be eliminated from the program was 16-year-old Japanese trainee Yuisa. In response to this result, the remaining trainees tightened their focus and prepared to take on the third challenge, “ALL-ROUNDERS.” The mission revealed that they would have to showcase their performance skills while dancing in heels and using props such as fans, hats, or canes.
The “Yewon Unit,” consisting of Yewon, Luca, Moka, Wonhi, Jimin, Hasul, and Funa, had to decide on their parts. After discussions, it was decided that each part would be determined through a voting process among the volunteers, with Yewon having the final say as the leader.
Japanese trainees Moka and Funa expressed their concerns about this decision-making process and wanted to confirm Yewon’s confidence. As a result, Moka and Yewon performed the relevant part, and the other members voted to choose the most suitable candidate. Ultimately, Moka won the part.
Meanwhile, Yewon became emotional as she was assigned the seventh part, and Wonhi also shed tears as she expressed sadness over having fewer parts. She said, ”I think there is a big difference in skill,” and revealed her struggle, saying, “I also wore heels for the first time.”
In the midst of this, Luca, a former LE SSERAFIM trainee from Japan, took the lead in choreographing the performance. Yewon reflected on her feelings at the time, saying, “Seeing Luca teach the choreography made me realize that I have to work harder.”
The Yewon Unit performed CHUNG HA’s “Dream of You” with the Heel Choreo stage, captivating the audience with their performance using canes and successfully completing the performance without any mistakes.
However, after the performance, the coaches made unexpected comments. KARA’s Gyuri asked the trainees
How did Jiwon’s powerful vocals and stage presence leave a lasting impression on the judges and viewers during her performance?
T mission for the contestants was to showcase their individual talents through a special “Just One” stage. Each member had to shine and leave a lasting impression on the judges in order to secure their position in the competition.
