Thousands of workers at an iPhone manufacturing plant in southern India complained of overdue wages and rioted, killing 149 workers, including workers.

According to Indian media and foreign media including The Hindu, on the morning of the 12th, thousands of workers rioted at the Wistron Infocom plant near Bengaluru in southern India.

Workers wielded iron bars and clubs to destroy glass and fixtures in factory buildings, production equipment, and security cameras.

Wistron reported that about 64 billion of our money was damaged and reported to the police.

The Wistron Infocom plant is an Indian subsidiary of Wistron, Taiwan, a major assembly company for mobile phone iPhones.

Since 2017, iPhone SE has been produced locally.

The factory’s total number of workers is known to be around 15,000.

Workers are known to have been dissatisfied with the size of their payments, such as not getting their allowances properly.

Apple, the iPhone maker, decided to investigate whether Wistron’s supplier guidelines were followed.

“We have dispatched employees and accountants to the scene and are cooperating with police investigations,” Apple said. “We are working hard to ensure that everyone in the supply chain is treated with respect.
