A fatal accident occurred at noon on the 27th in Kanchanaburi, Thailand. A 45-year-old New Zealand tourist, Patrick Ward, took a selfie while traveling on the famous local Thailand-Myanmar Meijing “Death Railway” she did not heed the advice and opened her car door without permission, as a result she accidentally fell 10 meters from the train bridge and fell downstream, tragically dying on the spot.

According to Yahoo News Australia, Ward took this famous “death railway” the same day. The scenery along the way is beautiful, but when Ward was at a famous train turn, to take a selfie, he disregarded the advice and opened the door. Falling off the train, he is believed to have plunged 10 meters into a ravine. Rescuers rushed to the scene after receiving the report, and although they found Ward and administered first aid for 30 minutes, they were still unable to recover and Ward was pronounced dead instantly.

Ward’s 70-year-old tour guide, Prairat Butdawong, pointed out that she warned Ward that if she wanted to take pictures, it was better to take pictures inside the window instead of opening the door or window. Budawang believes that Ward left their seat to go to the toilet and then opened the car door without permission to take pictures of the beautiful scenery. As a result, Ward lost his balance when the train turned, which ultimately led to tragedy.

The 415 kilometer Thai-Myanmar Railway was built by Japan during WWII using captured British and Australian prisoners to transport war material and has now become a popular tourist attraction. But a section of the railway, which has to go around a steep cliff, is considered the most dangerous place, and it is also where Ward fell off the cliff this time.
