Yesterday evening (July 15, 2019, around 8:30 p.m.) a previously unknown male rang the doorbell in Böhl-Iggelheim at the residential property of Mayor Gummer von Hockenheim and asked to speak to him. Mr. Gummer then went downstairs into the yard of the property. The stranger also entered the courtyard through the open gate. When he met the mayor there, the stranger suddenly hit him in the face with his fist. The blow caused Mr. Gummer to fall to the ground and hit his head on the ground. The suspect left the scene on foot after the blow.
Despite the immediate search measures initiated by the Schifferstadt police station, the perpetrator could no longer be identified. The following description is available: Male, around 40 years old, around 1.65 m tall, dark-skinned and slim. The man has short black hair and spoke German with a slight accent. He was dressed in black trousers and a red jacket.
Mr Gummer was seriously injured from the blow and fall on the ground and is currently receiving hospital treatment. The investigations of the criminal police in Ludwigshafen into the perpetrator and motive are ongoing.
