Early on Wednesday morning, residents of Hauptstrasse, at number 17, in the Venne district, were woken up by an explosion. At around 12:55 am, strangers had blown open a cigarette machine. The explosion was so strong that the machine was completely destroyed. Machine parts, collected cash and stored cigarette packs spread out on the street. Fire witnesses immediately looked for the cause of the explosion, but could not make out either people or vehicles. According to the current state of the investigation, a forcible opening of the machine was intended, not its complete destruction. It is currently not known whether the perpetrators were injured in the, presumably, unintentionally violent explosion. Corresponding indications could not be found on site. The explosion was probably caused by a pyrotechnic object (firecrackers).
