At 01:50 a.m. on Sunday, a 23-year-old drove a Mercedes down Klostenstrasse in Lahr. As a result of unsuitable speed, he came off the road to the right at the Ortenau Clinic and drove almost unbraked head-on into a wall. While the two male car occupants sitting in the front – both buckled up – were only slightly injured, a 23-year-old man who had been sitting on the back seat bench without a seat belt suffered the most serious injuries. All three people came to the hospital for medical care. The Mercedes suffered total economic loss of EUR 10,000; the damage to the wall is estimated at 2,000 euros.
