Taxi burns out – Offenthal
On Saturday morning, a taxi in the area of the B486 between Offenthal and the junction to Messel burned out completely. Previously, the 56-year-old driver from Dieburg had turned right off the road and landed in a taxi in the area of a paddock. The VW Touran was on the roof and caught fire. The driver was able to get out of the car in time and was uninjured. The fire brigade had to put out the fire. According to the police, the property damage amounts to around 10,000 euros. Driver fatigue is assumed to be the cause of the accident.

Fatal traffic accident – Gelnhausen / Hailer
A 28-year-old driver from Gelnhausen died early on Saturday morning in a collision. Before that, he drove his Audi on Gelnhäuser Strasse in the direction of Hailer. Shortly before entering the village, he turned right off the road and collided with a large sign post. The driver suffered fatal injuries in the accident and the force of the impact tore the Audi in two. The property damage amounts to around 25,000 euros. The police assume that the driver lost control of his vehicle due to inappropriate speed. Gelnhäuser Strasse was closed to traffic for the duration of the accident.
