On Saturday morning, around 02.25 a.m., a white Mercedes with Hanau license plates is said to have driven at excessive speed down Nussallee in the direction of the roundabout in front of the Canal Gate and, according to witnesses, drove on the roundabout against the prescribed direction of travel. An oncoming road user had to brake to avoid a collision. The vehicle then accelerated sharply and moved towards the city center, where it entered the pedestrian zone in the Am Markt area. Construction work for the Saturday market has already taken place here. The driver of the convertible with a black hood is said to have been around 25 years old and wore a white top and a black cap.
The police in Hanau asked witnesses who have made observations to call 06181 100-120.
