The highway police reports:
Serious traffic accident on the A3 near Heusenstamm
A serious traffic accident occurred late on Saturday evening on the A3 in the direction of Cologne. Two cars and one truck were involved. The 47-year-old who caused the accident from Offenbach drove his Audi in the right lane of the three lanes of the A3. In the middle lane was a Toyota that was being driven by a 41-year-old woman from Frankfurt. The Audi driver apparently overtook this Toyota on the right. Since there was a semitrailer in front of him in the right lane, he tried to switch back to the middle lane between the truck and the Toyota. The Audi collided with the semi-trailer truck, causing both vehicles to be severely damaged. The 45-year-old passenger in the Audi was seriously injured and the driver suffered minor injuries. Both were taken to a clinic. The Toyota in the middle lane was damaged by flying debris. Overall, the material damage to all three vehicles amounts to at least 30,000 euros. The A3 was closed for several hours for the police to record the accident and for the vehicles to be recovered.
