1. Blasting machines – Seligenstadt
It was not just cigarettes that two previously unknown male perpetrators were interested in when they blew up two cigarette machines shortly after midnight on Sunday at Hasenpfad and then at around 1:45 a.m. on Steinheimer Strasse. In both cases, so-called Polish firecrackers were probably inserted into the output shaft and caused to explode. The machines were badly affected by the force of the detonation. While partial access to cash and cigarette stocks was possible on Hasenpfad, the cash box in Steinheimer Strasse remained intact and could be secured by the alerted police. Residents on the rabbit trail could see a perpetrator running away who can be described as follows: male, approx. 20-25 years, approx. 170-180cm tall, dressed in a dark jacket with a hood. He was probably carrying a backpack. At the Steinheimer Strasse crime scene, a witness was able to observe two perpetrators, who bent down after the explosion and presumably picked up packets of cigarettes from the floor. While one of these men could only be described as wearing dark clothes, the other was a 16-25 year old man with a slim figure. He wore a dark gray hoodie, light gray sweatpants, white sneakers and a black backpack. Both then fled towards the residential area Berliner Straße / Spielplatz. Late on Friday evening around 10:15 p.m., two strangers tried to blow up a cigarette machine in the same way on Berliner Strasse. However, the coin validator with compartment and the cash box remained intact in the machine. The total damage to all three machines is estimated at around 10,000 euros. The amount of cash and cigarettes is still unknown. Witnesses who can provide relevant information are asked to contact the police in Seligenstadt on 06182-89300.
