In a “lightning break” that lasted only a few minutes in a bicycle shop in the commercial area in the Wieblingen district, 44 e-bikes with a total value of around 200,000 euros were stolen early on Thursday morning.
According to the current status of the investigation, the act occurred shortly before 4 o’clock “Im Taubenfeld” and was committed by several perpetrators. They smashed two shop windows, presumably with a heavy object, and loaded the bicycles in a small truck with a white body and a dark driver’s cab that they had used to drive to the exhibition area. They then fled in the direction of the A 656.
An immediately initiated manhunt, including in the adjacent police headquarters areas of Karlsruhe, Ludwigshafen / Rhineland-Palatinate and Darmstadt / Hesse, has so far been unsuccessful.
The Heidelberg Criminal Police Directorate took over the further investigations. The Central Forensic Technology was used to secure evidence.
Witnesses who can provide information about the crime, the perpetrators and their vehicle as well as the direction of the escape are asked to contact the detective service, Tel .: 0621 / 174-4444 or the HD-Süd police station, Tel .: 06221 / 3418-0 To get in touch.
