Yesterday, Tuesday, strangers made a so-called shock call to a Baunatal senior citizen to lose her savings. One of the perpetrators had called the elderly woman and pretended to be a lawyer. He described that the elderly woman’s son had caused a serious traffic accident and that money had to be paid to avert a prison sentence. The shocked woman then picked up a low five-digit amount of money from her bank and handed the money over to a person collecting it in a parking lot in Altenbauna. The officials of the EG SÄM of the Kassel Kripo, who are responsible for crimes to the detriment of the elderly, hope that the publication of the case will provide information about the perpetrators from the population.

The call from the alleged lawyer was received yesterday afternoon on the landline of the senior citizen. The man at the other end of the line credibly reported that her son had hit a child in the car and that the child was seriously injured. In order to prevent the son’s imprisonment because of the serious accident, a five-figure deposit must be paid to the court treasury. The shocked woman finally took a taxi that the perpetrators had ordered for her to drive to her bank, where she withdrew the requested amount. After she got home, the fraudsters directed the elderly woman to the parking lot in front of an apartment block on the corner of “An der Bauna”, corner of “Am Erlenbach”, where she left an A5 envelope at the parking deck exit at around 1:40 pm handed over the money to a man. This then went off in the direction of Heinrich-Nordhoff-Straße. In the evening, the elderly woman finally discovered that it was a fraud.    - 55 bis 60 Jahre alt, etwa 1,60 Meter groß, dunkle kurze Haare, 
     trug eine hellblaue OP-Maske, bekleidet mit einer schwarzen 
     Jacke und einer schwarzen Hose, sprach gebrochen Deutsch. 

Witnesses who have observed the handover of the money or who can provide information about the perpetrators to the police officers of the EG SÄM are asked to report to the police headquarters in North Hesse on tel .: 0561-9100.
