Kassel-Nord: On Monday night, the occupants of a silver BMW M5 searched the distance after they had knocked over a bollard in the main cemetery. Shortly before, they had torn off the license plates of the severely damaged car, but left the car behind. The BMW was seized. The investigations into the origin of the car and the fugitive occupants are currently ongoing and are being conducted by the Kassel police accident escape group. The investigators are now looking for witnesses who can provide information about the inmates of the silver M5.
As the officers of the North Police Station deployed at the scene of the accident report, the accident occurred at around 2:15 a.m. Residents had become aware of the loud bang and had alerted the police. In addition, witnesses saw at least two people fleeing in the dark towards Halitplatz, one of whom had previously torn off the license plates, apparently foreign license plates. According to initial findings, the silver BMW had hit a stone bollard in the area of the main entrance to the cemetery. The car may have come out of Karolinenstrasse and the driver drove straight ahead in the further course. So far, however, there are no witnesses. In the accident, the stone bollard was torn from its anchoring and the front, underbody and right tire of the BMW were damaged. The total damage is estimated at around 5,000 euros. Why the inmates then fled and tore off the license plates is currently not known. The investigation continues.
The following description is available for one of the refugees: The man is said to be around 30 years old and to have worn a dark brown jacket and light brown trousers. There is no description of the other occupant.
