On June 18, 21, around 5:30 p.m., two hikers reported an obviously helpless man in the Gauchach Gorge in the Unadingen / Grünburg area. Since there is no cell phone reception in the gorge, they had to leave the location to get help. When the trail was subsequently checked, however, the man was no longer to be found. During the search he was found about 2km upstream by police forces. He was unable to walk and apparently had circulatory problems. The subsequent rescue by the Wutach and Hinterzarten mountain rescue services turned out to be difficult due to the topography. An access to the gorge had to be cut open by a resident using a chainsaw in order to allow the ATV of the mountain rescue service to enter. The 71 year old man was taken to a clinic for further treatment.
