45468 MH- urban area:
Clearly visible, unknown people sprayed a natural stone wall on the towpath below Mendener Straße on Sunday (January 10, 2021 after 3 p.m.). Over a length of about 150 meters, the perpetrators sprayed the retaining wall made of natural stone, which stands between the Flora bridge and the former Mülheim youth hostel, with signs about two meters high. In the end, the perpetrators identified themselves as “Ultras Gelsenkirchen”, although the actual responsibility is still being determined by the police. Nine months earlier, on April 22nd, 2020, strangers smeared the wall with similar signs in the same place. They left “Ultras GE” and “S04” on a much smaller area. At that time, the Mülheim city administration was still able to bear the high costs of repairing the damage. It is doubtful whether the current costs, which will certainly be in the high five-digit range, can again be borne by the citizen’s coffers. In the meantime, the police had to discover other similar damage throughout the city. Whether on traffic signs, junction boxes or containers, the colors and the signs point to the same group of perpetrators. There may be at least four people who plan and carry out the crimes together. For example, attentive residents of the police described observations at the new Ruhr West University (HRW). On Friday, December 4, 2020 at around 2 a.m., they saw 100 suspicious people on the premises of the university on Duisburger Str. Four people sprayed large signs in the form of “UGE, Ultras, ACAB and Schalke 04” on a back wall of the newly built multi-storey car park, which is located directly on the newly built RS1 bicycle route. With the evidence of witnesses, the investigating Mülheim Criminal Police Office 35 is now intensifying the investigation into the perpetrators, who mostly left their blue graffiti in the Speldorf and Broich districts, but also in the MH-Raadt airport complex on Zeppelinstrasse. Just for the repair of the damage, a six-figure amount should be incurred for those responsible! Other residents and passers-by have certainly made observations or can provide other clues that lead to the identification of the as yet unknown young suspect. The police will receive information on the central telephone number of the Essen police headquarters. This is: 0201-829-0. A few pictures are attached to the press release, which are intended to symbolically illustrate the damage described./Peke
