Two suspected scooter thieves were found by a police dog from the Essen police on Wednesday night (June 2).
At around 1:10 a.m., a witness alerted the control center via an emergency call. The local resident noticed three suspects on Gedingeweg street. The trio apparently checked several car doors to see whether they might be unlocked. One of them was pushing a scooter alongside him. When the emergency services arrived, the people ran away in different directions. A 16-year-old ran away in the direction of Bonifaciusstrasse. The route that the service dog “Krabat” also took after his dog handler threatened his use and the fugitive apparently did not take it seriously. The male grabbed him. His injuries were minor. The handcuffs clicked.
Amazingly, his buddy returned to the scene. At a distance, he provoked and insulted the officers in the worst possible way. After that he intended to play a “cat and mouse game” with the police. Only for a short time, because “Krabat” was back in the starting blocks. The four-legged friend found the unteachable second suspect (17) on his renewed flight. He also suffered minor injuries.
The third member escaped.
Those arrested spent the night in police custody. The police found the allegedly stolen scooter not far away and confiscated it as evidence. The police are already criminally aware of the arrested persons. You were missing from a youth institution. The younger of them has a suspended sentence.
