Delmenhorst (ots)
On Thursday, September 2nd, 2021, two people were seriously injured in a traffic accident on Autobahn 1, on the Osnabrück lane, between the Cloppenburg and Vechta junctions.
A 40-year-old Swedish car driver intended to leave Autobahn 1 at the Cappeln Hagelage-West parking lot exit at 10:40 a.m. Due to a speed that was too high and not adapted to the location, he left the lane in his Mercedes car, collided with a traffic sign and ran over a protective barrier at this point.
As a result, the car rolled over several times and finally landed on the roof of the vehicle between the motorway and the parking lot in the green area.
The 40-year-old who caused the accident and his 62-year-old passenger were seriously injured in the accident. The 40-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital in an ambulance. The Swedish passenger was flown to a hospital in a rescue helicopter.
The no longer ready-to-drive Mercedes had to be recovered by a towing company.
The total damage was estimated at around 15,000 euros.
Criminal proceedings for negligent bodily harm and traffic offense proceedings were initiated against the 40-year-old.
