A resident from Dülmen noticed a car because it stood motionless for several hours in a farm in Dülmen. When the 56-year-old driver drove off in the car, a witness drove after the vehicle. She was able to guide the police to the vehicle whose driver had already run over several traffic lights at Rotlich. The driver then drove onto the motorway in the direction of Wuppertal. At the exit in Haltern-Lavesum, the vehicle was then escorted from the motorway by the police so that it could be stopped safely. When checking the vehicle and the driver, it was found that the vehicle registration number and the vehicle had been stolen on Christmas days, with the registration number not matching the vehicle to which it was attached. In addition, the driver had been put out to be wanted by an arrest warrant and was therefore taken to the police station in Dülmen. There it turned out that the arrest warrant referred to similar offenses that the driver had committed in the autumn of this year. Narcotics were later found in the car. For this reason, a blood sample was taken from the driver to determine whether there were drugs in his blood while he was driving. Furthermore, a pair of license plates were found in the vehicle, which had also been stolen shortly before. In the end, it was also determined that the driver did not have a driver’s license.
