The first emergency call reached the central control center around 6:30 p.m. An excited caller informed the dispatcher at the control center that there were people in the Main and that they were in danger of drowning. The reporter could hardly provide any further information because of the excitement, so that the person making the call was able to locate the location of the emergency caller using the “Advanced Mobile Location” technology used in the control center in Frankfurt and thus send rescue workers to the scene of the accident without further delay. Afterwards, further emergency calls were received at the control center with information that a rubber dinghy coming from the headwater had passed over the lock cylinder and had crashed several meters. Operations manager Michael Müller said after the operation: “A life-threatening situation for the accident victims, which also ended well thanks to the determined intervention of passers-by who were able to save a person from drowning by throwing a lifebuoy. A total of three people An older and a younger man and a young woman were in the dinghy. Two of these people were able to climb out of the water independently with the help of passers-by. The third person was able to get out of the water until the arrival of the first lifeboat, which was only a few minutes after the alert All three people were injured in the crash, two of them seriously, and had to be transported to the hospital for further treatment by the rescue service. Around 35 emergency services from the fire brigade, rescue service and the DLRG were on duty with their lifeboat were the first to be on site, as was the case with this accident l was not known. The end of the mission was around 7:45 p.m.
