Today, Thursday morning at around 9:00 a.m., a train driver reported strong smoke from a garbage container at Freiburg Central Station. Since the smoke from the burning container under the Wiwili Bridge was so strong, the bridge was temporarily closed to pedestrians and cyclists. The Freiburg fire brigade arrived with a fire engine and put out the fire. Nobody was injured, the amount of damage is not yet known. Since the cause of the fire is still unclear, the federal police have started investigations. People who can provide information about the cause of the fire are asked to contact the Federal Police on 07628 80590.
