Today we explain how to create a thread on Twitter. They are in fashion, they have become a great alternative with much more visibility to traditional blogs and even they begin to be considered a new journalistic genre. A Twitter thread is a series of tweets published by the same account, consecutive and linked to each other. It is a way to overcome the limit of 280 characters per tweet and it is almost impossible not to find one every time we enter this social network.
In order to start a thread, all you have to do is click on your first tweet and look for the ‘Reply tweet’ button to post another one below. In this way, both will be linked, thus starting your thread. This process can be extended to infinity so that nothing is left in the pipeline.
How to quote a Tweet in a thread
Another interesting aspect is to know how to quote a tweet in a thread. In this way we can add additional information in it about which we want to specify something or go even deeper. To be able to do it there are two ways, depending on whether you mention it at the beginning of your thread or later.
If you want to quote it at the beginning, all you have to do is press the retweet button and select ‘Quote Tweet’. In this way, you can write what you want and the quoted tweet that you have chosen will appear below your information. If you want to cite it later, the best way is to copy the link of the tweet, something you can do by clicking on the tweet you want to cite so that the details appear. At the bottom right you will find the share symbol (see image), and then you can copy the link. When you have it, paste it in the tweet in which you want it to appear and it will automatically appear quoted.
How to share a Twitter thread
If you are more about sharing than writing, you are more interested how to share a twitter thread. Again, in this case it will depend on which part of the thread you are interested in sharing, if the beginning or a part of it. The most common is to share a complete thread, so all you have to do is retweet the initial tweet and it will appear in the TL of your followers and they will be able to open and read it completely.
If the thread you want to share has 15 tweets but you are especially interested in the seventh, you can also do it. Press the retweet icon on which you want to share and it will be the one that your followers will see. If these go into detail, they will see that it is part of a thread and they will be able to scroll up or down depending on what they are interested in seeing.
How to find a thread on Twitter
You want to know how to search for a thread on Twitter? Sometimes we are interested in delving into a specific topic, but our users do not usually write about it. Unfortunately, the search engine on Twitter still doesn’t allow us to filter results by threads to make our lives easier.
One solution that many tweeters are using is let your followers know when to open a thread. In this way, the expression “I open a thread” has become a great solution to be able to have the information we want at hand. For example, if we want to find threads about WhatsApp, we can write the terms “open thread” in the search engine (between quotes, so it will detect the two words together, and ‘WhatsApp’.
