Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal finished in the same half of the draw at this year’s French Open.

Defending champions Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer finished amazingly in the same half of the draw at this year’s French Open.

After 13-time Roland Garros champion Nadal fell to third place in the standings behind Daniil Medvedev, the possibility of a one-sided draw increased, and that too has been proven.

You can’t repeat last year’s final when Nadal defeated Djokovic to win a 20th Grand Slam title.

Djokovic vs. Federer

Christmas against Rublev

Zverev against Thiem

Tsitsipas contra Medvedev

Djokovic will open his campaign against American Tennys Sandgren, while Nadal will face young Australian Alexei Popyrin and Federer will face a qualifier.

Swiss legend Federer is a potential quarter-final opponent for Djokovic, though given the lack of games and the 39-year-old’s stated goal of improving on the court, it would be a surprise if he went that far.

Daniil Medvedev is already a finalist for the US Open and Australian Open and will appreciate his chances of another Grand Slam final in Paris.

Matteo Berrettini, Andrey Rublev and 2020 semi-finalist Diego Schwartzman are also in this half.

Russian star Medvedev, two-time Paris finalist Dominic Thiem, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev are in the bottom half with Roberto Bautista Agut, Casper Ruud, Fabio Fognini, Pablo Carreño Busta and Grigor Dimitrov.

Medvedev, who reached his second Grand Slam final at the Australian Open but never won a draw at Roland Garros, faces a rocky start against strong Kazakh Alexander Bublik.

Britain Cam Norrie, who also competes against a qualifier, reached two ATP Tour finals on clay last month and is a potential third-round opponent for Nadal, while Britain’s No. 1 Dan Evans meet Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic.

Ashleigh Barty and Iga Swiatek were drawn in the same half

Barty contra Svitolina

Kenin contra Swiatek

S Williams contra Sabalenka

Andreescu against Osaka

Returning to Roland Garros for the first time since winning her first slam in 2019, Ashleigh Barty faces world number 70 Bernarda Pera in the women’s draw.

Defending champion Iga Swiatek is in the same half of the draw as Barty and faces Slovenian Kaja Juvan in the first match.

Serena Williams, who is chasing a record 24 Grand Slam, is in the other half and faces Irina-Camelia Begu of Romania. The winner will face Arantxa Rus or Mihaela Buzarnescu. Runner-up Naomi Osaka competes against another Romanian in Patricia Maria Tig.

Johanna Konta faces a difficult opening test against Sorana Cirstea, who broke into her first title in 13 years in Istanbul last month.

British No. 1 Johanna Konta, who has seeded 19 this year and is defending the 2019 semi-final qualifying points, faces a tough opening game against the formally strong Sorana Cirstea with Heather Watsonwho won just one of their last seven games against Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan.

Last year’s finalist Sofia Kenin will defeat 2017 winner Jelena Ostapenko in a highly successful matchup, while Carla Suárez Navarro returns after a successful cancer treatment against former US Open champion Sloane Stephens.
