82% of users agree to the limitation of data collection
According to the study, 82% of respondents accept the measures being implemented by various technology companies as a way to limit data collection.
In turn, 76% do not like receiving targeted online advertisements and want this practice to end. Already 68% consider that data privacy is very important. Interestingly, however, 11% more men than women say they don't care about targeted online ads.
Another interesting result is that after May 16, 15% of Apple users gave third-party apps permission to track them. In the US, 6% of iOS users allow travel apps to track and collect travel data.
Messenger is the messaging application that collects the most amount of user data.
There are applications that collect more data than others. But according to Surfshark, in the messaging and video calling category, Facebook Messenger tops the list as the app that collects the most data from users. In turn, Cisco Webex Meetings collects the least amount of data.
Unsurprisingly, on social media, Facebook is also the platform that stores the most data, unlike Clubhouse. In the navigation category, Waze GPS leads in data collection, while InRoute does not even collect it.
