Around this time, many magnificent specimens of parasols, a wide variety of boletus species as well as meadow mushrooms and sausage patties are found in the region of the state capital. So far, more than 160 consultations have been recorded, and on the busiest day even 40 people seeking advice came to the New Town Hall.
The importance of the city’s advisory work in Linz is shown by the discovery of a panther mushroom, which would have been life-threatening to consume. Poisonous green-leaved sulfur heads were also found in the mushroom yield presented.
Instead of the originally planned until the end of October, the mushroom advice center can still be visited up to and including November 14th of this year. The free mushroom inspection is available without prior appointment on Mondays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the New Town Hall. The City of Linz’s Mushroom Advisory Service can be found in the Health and Sports Division, Food Safety, Sanitary and Veterinary Law Department, at Hauptstrasse 1-5, 1st floor, room 1043, in the New Town Hall.
It is requested that you only bring fresh, whole finds, including the stem, for identification in order to enable clear identification.
