🌧️ Continued rain, wind, closures and flooding – Linz.news

LINZ. Sunday will also be marked by heavy rain and cold weather.

Here are the most important situation updates from today, Sunday. Overall, the situation in Linz is relatively stable. There are still some floods and since Saturday (up to 12 noon today) there have been around 80 fire brigade operations in the city area.

💥 Update 2:30 p.m.: Urfahrmarkt construction STOPPED! As the city of Linz confirmed today, the ongoing construction of the Urfahraner autumn market was stopped on Friday. We already reported yesterday.

💥 Update 1:40 p.m.: The professional fire brigade and the four volunteer fire brigades have recorded 80 operations since Saturday morning (as of Sunday 12 noon). Bridges over the Dießenleiten and Haselbach have been dismantled. Underpasses in the Haselbach/Freistädterstraße/Linzerstraße area are closed. All information here.

💥 Update 1:20 p.m.: There is currently no train service between Linz Hbf and Wien Hbf. ÖBB requests that non-urgent journeys be postponed to another time!

💥 Update 1:00 p.m.: As the city of Linz confirmed, the ongoing construction of the Urfahraner Autumn Market has been stopped as a precautionary measure since Friday following an inspection. Measures are being agreed in accordance with possible further scenarios.

💥 Update 11:45 am: More heavy rain and wind! The water level in Linz is currently at 555cm. The water level in the Danube remains high and is expected to rise slightly again on Tuesday. The flood protection dam level 1 is currently sufficient. In Urfahr, some underpasses on streams are still closed.

💥 Update 08:40 am: The dog run area in Ebelsberg along the Traun is currently completely under water!

During the night into Sunday, the rain in the central area eased slightly. However, the water levels continued to rise in some places.

The Danube in Linz reached a water level of 569cm during the night. A slightly lower water level is forecast for Monday, but from Tuesday the water level is expected to rise again and reach around 600cm. Phase 1 of the mobile flood protection dam is still sufficient.

The large volumes of water from the Mühlviertel are a problem, especially in Urfahr. Dießenleitenbach, Haselbach, Höllmühlbach and Katzbach are still showing rising water levels. Linzer Straße and some underpasses are still closed. Bicycle and pedestrian bridges at the balancing channel have been removed.

The Anton Bruckner Run planned for today has been cancelled!

Yesterday’s Linz football derby ended with a 1-0 home win for Blau-Weiß Linz.
