“What people need is leadership and action on climate change, not sympathy, prayers or institutions.”
Chairman Babaev pointed out the seriousness of global warming and criticized the attitude of the parties to the convention that value their own interests more than the common goals of humanity.
In particular, he said that it will be possible to gauge each country’s sincerity in discussions about raising decarbonization resources.
At this meeting, concerns were also raised about the possibility of withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement again following former President Trump’s return to power.
John Podesta, the current U.S. Biden administration’s special envoy for climate, said, “Trump’s election is a disappointing result for climate activists,” but emphasized, “America’s efforts to curb climate change will continue.”
