(Jeonju = Yonhap News) Journalist Ahn Hong-seok = FC Seoul coach Ahn Ik-soo said: “I express my deepest condolences to the families of the Itaewon massacre which killed 151 people.”

Coach Ahn told reporters ahead of the second leg of the Hana OneQ Korea Football Association’s 2022 FA Cup final, which began at the Jeonju World Cup stadium on the 30th of the incident.

The incident took place amid a large crowd of people for Halloween in Itaewon, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, in the middle of the club’s hometown.

Manager Ahn said: “As a social club, I hope there is something Seoul can help.

As the away goals rule applies in the FA Cup, Seoul, who finished 2-2 at home, is behind.

Director Ahn said: “I think it might be a reason to work harder today (for Seoul citizens who were injured by the tragedy).”

Coach Ahn said no Seoul players were directly or indirectly affected by the disaster.

Kim Sang-sik, Jeonbuk’s Hyundai coach, also expressed his condolences.

Director Kim said: “I heard the news at midnight yesterday and I don’t know how to express my condolences to the bereaved family and acquaintances of the victims who must have been seriously injured.”

Jeonbuk fans hung up signs saying: “In memory of the victims of the Itaewon disaster.”

Jeonbuk and Seoul have decided to keep a moment of silence before kick-off to commemorate the victims.
