from the screen to the living room

Actor Choi Min-sik returned to a drama after 24 years with the Disney+ original series ‘Casino’ released late last year and garnered arguments.

Actors who have been active on screen this year plan to “work hard” in home theater.

Song Kang-ho visits home theater with her first drama “Uncle Samshik”. “Uncle Sam-sik” is a drama about two men who went through turbulent times in the early 60s, and about the longing and love between their uncle Sam-sik and Kim San. “Even during the war, I ate three meals a day,” he describes the story of love, trust or doubt between Uncle Sam-shik and ultra-elite Kim San. Jung Woo-sung plays the role of Cha Jin-woo, who is easygoing despite the biased look in a quiet world.

Seol Kyung-gu should appear in “Storm”. It’s a return to the small screen after 29 years since ‘Big Sister’. “Storm” is a comeback work of Park Kyung-soo, known for his “power trilogy” after 5 years, and is a political drama that shakes the world as the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea and acting president. It is known that Seol Kyung-gu was offered the role of Park Dong-ho, the main character of “Storm”.

Kim Yoon-seok is planning to appear in “The Forest with No One”. “In the Forest with No One” is a drama that tells the story of Sang-joon, who ran a motel in the countryside in the summer of 2000, and Young-ha, who ran a guesthouse alone in the forest in the summer of 2021 coping with unforeseen events. the wind continues

After Kim Hye-soo showed her presence by appearing in tvN’s drama “Shloop” last year, this year’s top actresses are expected to return to the home theater.

Jeon Do-yeon will be back with the tvN drama ‘One Hit Scandal’ which will premiere on the 14th. ‘Ilta Scandal’ depicts the bittersweet love story between a hot-blooded president of a national side dish shop and a Korean math instructor in a private battlefield. Jeon Do-yeon plays the role of Nam Haeng-seon, a former national handball player who now runs a side dish shop, and works a romance with Jeong Kyung-ho, who plays the role of an instructor at a time.

Uhm Jung-hwa will also return to home theater with JTBC’s new drama “Doctor Cha Jeong-sook”. “Doctor Cha Jeong-suk” depicts the story of Cha Jeong-sook’s torn life, from being a housewife for 20 years to becoming a first year resident. The challenge of restarting Cha Jeong-sook’s life, awakened by her husband’s betrayal, will deliver spine-tingling laughter and empathy. Uhm Jung-hwa plays Cha Jeong-sook, a 20-year-old housewife who is facing a major change in her life after coming back to life.

Lee Na-young returns with Wave’s original drama “Park Ha-kyung’s Travels” (working title). “Park Ha-kyung’s Travelogue” describes the journey of Park Ha-kyung, a Korean teacher who finds solace and empathy in walking, eating, and meeting people on a day trip on Saturday when she wants to disappear. Lee Na-young, who returns to the small screen after 3 years from the tvN drama ‘Romance Bonus Book’, will take over the role of Park Ha-kyung and develop a myeongryang healing period.

Go Hyun-jung returns with the Netflix series “Mask Girl”. ‘Mask Girl’ depicts the turbulent life of Momi Kim, an ordinary office worker with a complex about her appearance, who gets involved in unintentional accidents while working as an internet BJ broadcaster while covering her face with a mask every night. Go Hyun-jung will play the role of Kim Mo-mi.

Lee Young-ae returns to “Master”. ‘Maestra’ tells the story of a female conductor who has a secret and gets closer to the truth around her by delving into mysterious happenings in the orchestra. Lee Young-ae plays the role of Cha Se-eum, a former female violinist and conductor who leads the orchestra.

Also, Lee Bo-young is expected to visit home theater with JTBC drama ‘Agency’ and Kim Hee-ae and Moon So-ri with Netflix series ‘Queen Maker’.

Regarding the return of top stars to the home screen, critic Ha Jae-geun said, “In the past, the line between drama and film was clear, but with the advent of OTT (online video service), the Cinema personnel are changing and the line is blurred.

Also, if the drama shooting sites in the past were poor and there were a lot of secondary scripts, now there are a lot of pre-productions, so it’s not as poor as it used to be. Appearing in an OTT drama also has the effect of enlarging the active power of the world, so the boundaries are shrinking.”

Another broadcaster said: “With the advent of OTTs, the channel itself has expanded and the distinction between drama and film is becoming increasingly blurred and competition is fierce. As good content is produced with a variety of materials, the range of choices for actors is widening a lot,” she explained.
