[사회]’Keep below -70 degrees Celsius!’…The first Pfizer vaccine transport campaign

The Pfizer vaccine, which first entered Korea from overseas today, was transported by Korean Air’s Airbus aircraft.

Pfizer vaccines, in particular, are required to maintain temperatures below -70 degrees Celsius, so a specially manufactured’temperature-controlled container’ and an internationally licensed onboard manager were used in the transportation process.

This is Korean Air’s A330 airliner that was in charge of Korea’s first vaccine transport mission.

It is a model manufactured by European Airbus and was brought into Korea at the end of 2014.

It is 63m long and 60m wide, with 296 interior seats and a maximum flight distance of 9,449 km.

It can carry 16 tons of cargo on the lower part of the aircraft, which has been used as a cargo plane after the sky road was blocked by Corona 19.

As vaccines produced abroad are entering Korea for the first time, there is a series of tensions from the source Netherlands.

Pfizer vaccines need to be stored at temperatures below -70 degrees Celsius, so a’temperature control container’ with special refrigerant is required.

To this end, specialists in special cargo transportation with international licenses were employed.

Medicines such as Pfizer and corona vaccines may deteriorate if the required temperature is not maintained. Therefore, the principle of cold distribution, that is, cold chain, must be observed during transportation and storage.

For this reason, it is essential to manage and supervise the loading manager in the entire process of vaccine loading, transportation, unloading, and subsequent storage.
