The forest fire in Jeongseon, Gangwon-do, which started yesterday afternoon, burned 110,000 square meters of national forest.

The Forest Service has switched to a night-time evolution system and is working to prevent further spread.

In the midst of this, a fire broke out at Muju Resort in Jeollabuk-do, and more than 100 users were evacuated, and strong winds are struggling to extinguish it.

First of all, let’s tell you the news of the Jeongseon fire.

Yes, first of all, the forest authorities explained that about 60% of forest fires had been extinguished by 1 am today.

The range of fire, that is, the length of the flame has also been shortened from 700m to 500m.

The fire started at Mt. Nochu in Gujeol-ri, Yeoryang-myeon, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do, around 3:50 pm yesterday (20th).

The Forest Service and the fire department have mobilized 11 helicopters to immediately extinguish the fire.

However, the slope was severe, the mountains were rough, and the strong winds of more than 6m per second had difficulty in evolution.

There are 5 private houses living at the bottom of the mountain, but no one has been injured by a forest fire to this day.

However, it is estimated that 110,000㎡ of national forest was burned by this fire.

After the sun went down, the helicopter withdrew and switched to a night-time evolution system, and we are focusing on preventing further spread rather than evolution by establishing a diffusion barrier.

The good news is that the strong winds have subsided at about 3 meters per second and are not spreading quickly.

However, the forest authorities said they would prevent further damage as much as possible as a strong wind of 5m per second is expected to blow again after 3 am.

The weather is dry and there are strong winds, so there are fires one after another. In Muju, Jeollabuk-do, there was a fire in the hotel?

[기자]

Yes, it is.

Yesterday (20th) around 11 pm, a fire broke out in a five-story hotel in Muju Resort, Simgok-ri, Muju-gun, Jeollabuk-do.

No one was injured because all 80 guests and 4 staff in the room were evacuated by this fire.

However, the hotels themselves are all wooden buildings and there is a strong wind, which makes it difficult to evolve.

Concerned that the fire would get bigger, as of 1:20 this morning, the second stage of fire response was issued, mobilizing all equipment and personnel from other nearby fire departments.

Accordingly, 31 equipment and 122 personnel have been put into the evolution.

The fire department explained that fortunately, it is far from the building next to it, and there is little concern about further spreading as it is closer to a nearby ski resort than a forest.

However, the citizens who reported the report to YTN also expressed concern that sparks were still splashing around the scene of the fire and spreading it to the surrounding area.

The fire department believes that the fire has started on the eaves of the building’s roof and plans to investigate the exact cause of the fire after extinguishing it.

We will deliver it again as soon as more details become available.

So far, the Ministry of Social Affairs has delivered it.
