Hanjin Heavy Industries’ dismissal worker Kim Jin-sook, a leader of the Busan Branch of the Federation of Trade Unions, finished a 400km walk from Busan to Seoul in 34 days.

Commissioner Kim urged the government to respond actively, saying that the problem of reinstatement due to unfair dismissal has not been resolved for 36 years.

He stopped treating cancer and went on a walking march from Busan to Seoul.

In 1986, Kim, a welder at Hanjin Heavy Industries, was oppressed by the government for engaging in union activities, and was fired by the management by disciplinary action.

Lately, it was recognized as unfair dismissal and expected to be reinstated, but the company offered re-employment and payment of condolences instead of reinstatement.

Kim, who refused to do so, continued to march over 400km to the Blue House, saying that the government must resolve the issue of reinstatement that has been brought in for 36 years.

After 34 days, he finally arrived at the Blue House, but the problem of reinstatement is still unknown.

In the frustrating reality, Commissioner Kim did not hide his regret for the candlelight administration.

The march for reinstatement was over, but large marches and rallies remained controversial.

“If you are waiting, please go to the crossroads on both sides.”

Even if some distances were kept, nearly 500 people marched across the city center, and hundreds of people gathered in front of the Blue House.
